Criminal Background Checks NEW PROCESS – PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS

Due to upcoming winter break and district office closures, background check requests received after December 4th may not be reviewed until January 2026.

As of 7/1/2025, Ann Arbor Public Schools will be using Global Investigative Services to process new background checks. After completing the initial online form (linked below), individuals will receive an email (within 24-48 hours) from Instascreen.net on behalf of Global Investigative Services and will appear in your email box as follows:

Subject: Ann Arbor Public Schools Background Questionnaire Notification

Contractors must follow the instructions in the email to securely submit their personal information to Global Investigative Services in order to initiate their background check.

• This will include downloading the Verified Identity (VID) app on your phone to electronically submit your valid, government-issued ID as well as your picture. (App may be deleted once process is completed.)
• 

• Receiving the finish/verified screen (showing confetti) within the VID app does NOT mean a person has passed the background check. It only means the initial submission of information was successful and a background check will now be started.

The background check process can take one to two weeks from the initial request until a contractor badge is issused. Please plan accordingly, ahead of your project schedule. For contractors in need of completing their background check, please find the request form here.

Contractor Key Requests

For contractors wanting keys for a jobsite, please download the form here. Please discuss your need with your construction manager first and if keys are needed, submit all completed key request forms to badges@A2schoolsbond.org noting which buildings you would like access to within the email, including any special doors (example: mechanical doors). Please note, in order to receive keys for a jobsite, you must have an approved criminal background check.
