New Thurston Elementary School News – January 2026

To support construction of the new Thurston Elementary, the following activities are taking place on campus.

New Thurston Elementary School: January News

To support construction of the new Thurston Elementary, the following activities are taking place on campus. Current Work, Weather Permitting:

Utility work is ongoing, including the water main.
Structural steel installation is ongoing.
Masonry is ongoing.
Phase 2 aggregate pier installation may be starting as early as next month.

Coming Up:

Students and staff at Thurston will have an opportunity to sign the final beam, leading up to a “Topping Out” milestone when the final and highest beam is raised into place at the new Thurston Elementary.

Please note:

As work continues, if winter conditions exist, use of a generator to power a heater may be necessary at times.
Vibration monitoring is currently in place with reports posted to the Assessments & Surveys page on the website.
The walkway along the North/East construction fencing is not accessible to bikes, strollers, etc. It is a walking path with inclines. Please use paved sidewalks for accessibility. The rustic path will not be cleared of snow during the winter.
Construction-related trail access changes are posted onsite courtesy of the Thurston Nature Center.
Construction parking and construction access drives are for construction personnel only and to ensure safety, staff and parents should refrain from using construction parking and/or drives.
Emails will continue to be sent, to provide updates on campus activities.
