Nixon Corridor Improvement
The City of Ann Arbor is scheduled to begin Phase 2 of the Nixon Corridor Improvement Project March 30, 2026. Please visit the City’s project page to sign up for City updates: https://engage.a2gov.org/nixon-project
Indoor Air Sampling
The district has received inquiries regarding documented radon levels at existing schools, particularly those located adjacent to construction sites. More information regarding Clague radon testing can be found on the Assessments & Surveys web page.
Important Clague Middle School vehicle traffic pattern information:
- Currently, two-way traffic is accessible from Nixon Road.
- Starting March 30, as a result of the City of Ann Arbor’s Nixon Corridor Improvement Project: Phase 2, the City will close Nixon Road between Bluett Drive and Traver Blvd.

- Beginning April 6, Clague traffic flow will be one-way only for Families and Staff, entering school grounds from Bluett Road and exiting onto Nixon Road, as shown by the blue arrows in the site graphic below.
- Entry will no longer be available from Nixon Road due to City of Ann Arbor construction.
- Exiting the Clague driveway onto Nixon Road will be right turn only.
- These conditions are anticipated to be in effect throughout the remainder of the school year.

New Logan ES @ Clague News – March 2026
Current Work, Weather Permitting:
- Utility work continues, including water main work, which is nearing completion.
- Structural steel installation is complete.
- Masonry of the gymnasium shell is complete.
- Cross Laminate Timber (CLT) installation is ongoing.
- Work on the Geothermal Heating, Cooling & Ventilation system continues and is expected to take about 1-2 more months.
- Drilling crews typically operate from 7am to 7pm Monday through Saturday, within the City of Ann Arbor Noise Ordinance.

To support the construction of New Logan Elementary on the Clague Middle School campus, tree felling & site improvements start March 18th. While this can be a noticeable change as vegetation is removed and trees are coming down, AAPS values embodied carbon and is committed to environmental sustainability. Loading Dock & Paving Repairs
To stabilize the existing infrastructure and to support improvements consistent with the Facility Condition Assessment Report, loading dock and paving repairs will be performed at Clague.

Exterior Door and Window Replacement
To stabilize the existing infrastructure and to support improvements consistent with the Facility Condition Assessment Report, select exterior doors and windows at Clague Middle School will be replaced.

New solar array installed on the roof.

Elevator modernized with a new elevator cab, controls, and hydraulic pumps.

Demolition of existing bathroom. Reconfigure bathroom layout with new flooring and walls; new plumbing and ventilation.

Replacement of existing lights with LED light fixtures.

Replacement of existing lights with LED light fixtures.

A/C and Lighting Upgrades
Addition of air conditioning and replacement of existing lights with LED light fixtures. Classrooms to have a dimmable lighting system and new ceiling tiles.

Front Entrance Renovation
Renovation and beautification of the school’s front entrance.

Geothermal Digging
Installation of an all-electric geothermal heating and cooling system.

Window Shades
New window shades added to the building.

Theater Rigging Improvements
Replace existing counterweight stage rigging system with new electronic hoist system.

HVAC Building Management System Upgrades
Updated the school’s Building Management System (BMS) to the latest version including a new graphical interface and mobile, cloud-based access. The upgrades allow for better systems control, improved occupant comfort and energy efficiency.

Water Bottle Filling Stations
Installation of filtered water bottle filling stations throughout the school.

Security Updates
Update to security system on property.

Public Address and Clocks Replacement
Installed a new internet protocol digital public address and clock system that is managed through a single integrated platform. The new system allows for ease of programming, the integration of phone systems and mobile devices, and enhanced alerts in case of emergency situations, with both visual and audible messages.

Pool Heating Boiler Replacement
New boiler added to the building for the pool.

New Classroom Furniture
New, flexible, classroom furniture was added to create a more accessible, engaging and student-centered environment.

New Musical Instruments
Purchase of new musical instruments and pianos for music classrooms and auditoriums.

Tennis Court Renewal
School tennis courts were refinished.

Clague Middle School, originally constructed in 1972, is a two-story masonry structure with exterior brick veneer. The school facility is situated on 23.5 acres in the northeast sector of Ann Arbor. The original structure has not experienced any major additions over the years, and currently supports Grades 6-8.
